Primitive Campsite
(no horses, no electric) = $15/night. Limit two tents per
primitive site.

Horse Rentals: A private stable nearby will rent a safe and sound horse by the hour or by the day, along with saddle and tack. They may be able to deliver and pick-up from Hayes Canyon Campground.
When packing for your trip, include extra electric cord, water hose, and septic hose. Due to the many trees on the sites your electric/water supply post or septic stub may be up to 30 feet from your parking pad. Don't forget a manure fork to clean pens (put in wheeled cart provided and we will empty daily). Cell phone reception in this area is spotty at best. In case of emergency, your family can leave a message for you by calling us at the main campground phone number (618)672-4751 and we will notify you of the message left.To reserve a campsite, please call us at (618) 672-4751.
Specific campsites not reservable, but we will do our best to accomodate requests.
Deposit of first night's stay required for holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Columbus Day) by mailed check. Deposit will be refunded with 14 days cancellation notice.

not tie your horse to
utilities or trees. Do
NOT allow your
horse to chew on or damage any trees!
Even small amounts of damage acumulate and a dead mature
tree
takes about 30 years to replace. Trees provide the shade that
your children and grandchildren will enjoy.
*We
are on city water -
please conserve! No washing vehicles/trailers please.
*Please
turn your A/C off
when you are away from camp (unless you have a pet left inside).
*Put manure in cart, we will empty daily. Before leaving, thoroughly clean your pens including all hay/shavings (it will act as 'mulch' & keep the ground wet).
* Put trash in dumpsters. Food or trash left out is an invitation for wildlife, which may be harmed by eating plastic, etc. Also, we would rather not have visitors to our campground such as bees, raccoons, skunks, etc.
* We collect aluminum cans for the
local animal shelter, please place in marked barrels near dumpsters.
*Hayes
Canyon Campground is
not responsible for accidents, injury, lost or stolen property. Common
sense is
the best prevention to injury!
*U.S. Forest Service requires bridle tag to be in place at
all
times while riding on the

by staying on designated trails and by avoiding trail 'braiding' or
switch-backs. Cross-tie between trees when stopping on trail, or use high-lines provided at designated locations.
*Lusk Creek Wilderness, Bay Creek Wilderness, and Garden-of-the-Gods Wilderness trails only [note these areas on your map]. These trails are open seasonally from April 1st to November 30th. Group size in wilderness areas is limited to 10 persons. These trails may be temporarily posted as closed after periods of heavy rain.
